This month one of our very own members, Ricarda Cerda, presented to us on “How to Eat with Intent”. Ricarda is a licensed dietitian and spoke about nutrition and eating healthily and simply: the simpler the better!
She shared her recipe for Greek yogurt with red and blue berries, which you can simply mix all together to enjoy:
½ cup plain Greek yogurt whole fat
1 teaspoon Almond butter
Sprinkle of ground cinnamon
½ banana thinly sliced
½ cup raspberries
½ cup blueberries
She explained the nutritional breakdown to us. Greek yogurt provides: calories (energy), protein (builds and repair tissue, maintains PH balance, and supports immune system), fat (fuel source and stores energy in body), calcium (mineral that keeps bones strong), and probiotics (live cultures for healthy gut). The almond butter provides flavor and texture. The cinnamon provides sweetness. The banana provides potassium (mineral important in regulating blood pressure) and sweetness. The berries provide fiber (helps with digestion), potassium, sweetness, and antioxidants (vitamin c).
